A very insightful piece by Noel Wicks, who I had the pleasure of meeting recently - and of course we discussed the topic of pharmacy home delivery in depth.
My view is that if you can understand and control your costs - especially working with a partner who can deliver your goods and services for you - then you can retain (and grow) a market share without the need to uplift your prices. And who knows, with the right volume, density and efficiencies, perhaps home delivery doesn't need to be as big a burden and distraction for pharmacies after all?
Let’s assume that internet pharmacy is the benchmark for a “basic” service. Brick and mortar pharmacies would then have the option of offering additional upgrades. Unlike internet pharmacies, we could offer speedy boarding (faster access to your prescription), an upgrade to business class (MDS trays) or even an all-inclusive package (unlimited same-day home deliveries).
